Time in poetry is never measured in minutes — it unfolds differently.
In Tbilisi Actor’s House, during a festival where theatrical performances and poetry shared the same space, one evening was dedicated to poet Irakli Nadaraia.
The setting carried a distinct atmosphere.
An eastern interior and a sense of mystery shaped the stage. The sounds of flute, piano, and violin blended with the poetry of Irakli Nadaraia, creating a space that felt both intimate and otherworldly. It was not simply a performance, but an immersion into a different state of perception.
His poems — The Sacred Board, Crumbs, Kimilia Kinamo, Rain, Atame, Tavern, 1, 2, and others — do not reveal themselves immediately. They are filled with hidden meanings and quiet tension. Listening to them feels like entering a subtle form of hypnosis, where words move beyond logic and begin to resonate on a deeper level.
It was an unusual and deeply atmospheric evening of poetry.
Music by composer Lika Turkadze accompanied the performance, along with operatic arias and instrumental pieces for violin and piano. These elements did not compete with the poetry, but expanded its emotional space.
Such evenings have taken place in various cultural spaces across Tbilisi — from theatre stages on Rustaveli Avenue to the Mtatsminda Pantheon, the Academy of Arts, and intimate art venues. Each location added its own atmosphere while preserving the inner essence of the poetry.
The evening at the Actor’s House, held by invitation of the Georgian Theatre Society, became a continuation of this unique artistic path.
His poetry exists somewhere between the visible and the hidden.
It cannot be fully explained at once. It unfolds gradually, like a quiet echo that remains long after the words have been spoken. Within that echo, something deeply personal and universal begins to take shape.
And in such moments, time disappears completely.
